Mammography<\/h1>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text <\/noindex> css_animation_speed=”faster” css_animation_delay=”0″]Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.<\/p>\n

An x-ray (radiograph) is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Imaging with x-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging.<\/p>\n

Patient Preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

When making your appointment, please let us know if you have breast implants as we will need to make sure you have a longer appointment time. If your breasts are tender just before your period, it may be more comfortable for you to make an appointment just after your period.<\/p>\n

On the day:<\/p>\n

  • Bring all previous mammograms and breast ultrasounds with you (if available)<\/li>\n
  • Wear comfortable two-piece outfit<\/li>\n
  • Please do not wear any talcum powder, deodorant or perfume as this may show up as an abnormality on your mammogram<\/li>\n
  • Please let the radiographer know if you think you might be pregnant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
